When you join Cubs, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things. Here’s everything you need to know.

Learn the Lingo

Cub Scouts – Cubs are young people usually aged between 8 and 10½ years old. Young people can join in the 6 months leading up to their eighth birthday. They can move to the next section, Scouts, between 10 years old and 11 years old.

Pack – Cubs meet together in their section which is known as a Cub Scout ‘Pack’.

Sixes – Cubs may be split into smaller groups called ‘Sixes’ to carry out activities and tasks together.

Weekly Meeting – Our Pack meets regularly on Tuesdays between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm in the George Howard Centre.

Nights Away – Our Pack aims to organise at least one weekend residential event per year, known as a ‘Night Away’ from home.

Cub leaders

All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Pack week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills.

Activities and what you’ll get up to

Prepare for excitement and adventure! Try huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; be creative and get involved in your local community. Learn exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.
